This is, without question, the weakest era for De La Soul remixes & b-sides. Of course, a full 100MB volume of "Saturdays" and "Keepin' The Faith" might look legendary in comparison to whatever they're doing nowadays, but hey, even James Brown fell the fuck off at some point.
Volume 2 is a mandatory download, though. Check the audio samples for "De La Slow" "De La's Poster", "Roadrunner", and "Scenario". I get the feeling that they have a ton of 1991-1992 era material in the vaults; these guys were some serious workaholics, as indicated by the sheer amount of non-album tracks that were churned out during the "3 Feet High & Rising" sessions.

ReplyDeleteI really miss the days when De La would put more thought into the their music, and do more than just record 11 or so tracks and call it a day.
Man i dunno what you're talking about, the grind date was hot and that nike mix they just did is fire.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's just my opinion. If you're feeling post-98 De La, then more power to you, but I can't stand any of it. De La Soul is my favorite crew of all time besides Run DMC, btw.
ReplyDeleteThey make Run DMC look like one hit wonders. DMC don't have the body of work De La have. Worst thing De La ever did was the AOI series and they were still pretty hot. And they my favorite crew of all time bar none, so props for this work you doing!
