Mapping Out The Stretch And Bobbito Show (Demos: Juggaknots, Kool Keith, etc..)

We've finally decided to give this a go. It will be tough, no doubt. But if everybody who has any little bit of knowledge at all about the WKCR legacy, would add on and build with us, it is possible that we can map out the show's entire history.
We've got people who are willing to rip your tapes to mp3 and mail them back to you. The Big Sleep has set up a "Stretch And Bobbito" blog to archive and keep the list of shows, dates, and guests, all together in one place.

Here's a few treats that have surfaced since we started this mission:

Juggaknots - Genuine (demo?)

MF Doom - Gas Drawls (demo)

Rampage - Mad Niggas (demo)

LL Cool J - ?? Unreleased Unknown demo

Organized Konfusion - Why (OG Buckwild demo version)

Showtime - I Walk The Line (demo)

Aiello Wilson - 80 Proof (demo)

Kool Keith - Time Is Now (unreleased demo)[best quality on the internet]

Nas - The Life We Chose (DJ Eli Remix)

This is only a sampler of all the freshness that has surfaced so far.

Peace and thanks to everyone who has helped contribute so far, I hope I'm not forgetting anyone. Leave a comment if I forgot you:
The Big Sleep, aleph, Digital Stimulation, Andyman187, dj step one, RELM, jamo609, Howfresh, dirtywaters, serch4beatz, recogthereal, boogs, sen, sloppyseconds, Skeptic, Ho1ogramz, djkingflow, Dat_Triflin_Ass_Dude, megafresh, dubs, tuttsifruttsi, Kwestionmark, pradadon, Duddy, Roy Johnson

Most of those links are to really good cassette rip blogs you might want to check out.

Peace to Stretch and Bobbito.
Stretch may be coming through with a full, almost completely accurate, list of all the show dates and guests, soon. Hopefully some show rips, too. Stay tuned.

  4. Thanks guys.
DJ Kwestionmark- Yeah, I'm down to cop one or two. As long as they're in 3x. I know that's a tough task sometimes cause some places charge extra past 2x.
    Keep us posted on that.

  5. I copped this Stretch & Bobbito shirt by ECHO in like 99 that I use for my posts.

Too bad its yellow and too small so I would be interested too, but like Verge said at least a 2XL-3XL and not those bullshit t-shirts that just get wider and not longer as the sizes increase.

Funny thing I had a dream last night I was chilling with Stretch & Bob shooting the shit...

  7. Forgot to add kwestionmark that is a great idea L or XL all the way for me as i'm a skinny bastard. Are ya going for a new design or maybe one of the orginals with added elements? Anyhow are take two.

  8. My fave S&B tee design is still the one I saw a guy wearing on a subway platform back in the mid-90s. Plain white tee, w/white lettering in a black box. The text was basically a flyer for the show, y'know something like DJ STRETCH ARMSTRONG WITH YOUR HOST BOBBITO THE BARBER, 89.9 WKCR, THURSDAYS, blah blah blah, real simple.

  9. I would buy a t-shirt. I still got this stretch & bob t-shirt from about 1998: http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/7181/p1000440pz.jpg

I bought a couple different shirts at Footwork (2 stretch & bob, 1 artifacts, other stuff) - I loved the show and like a total geek I went down to check out Bob's store and wound up buying a bunch of stuff; this is the only one I have left though. I think I got it in early 1998, as you can see at the top it says "seven years of treats."

Thanks to you all for getting this together. I'm a sporadic visitor here to TROY but will definitely check out the S&B thread/blog more regularly now. I have a box of old tapes, but I think it's lots of CMFam (1998-2001). The box is in storage now but I will try to make a special trip to get it out and go through it. Will definitely need to take someone up on the offer to digitize the cassettes once I have them in hand. I used to read KonstantKontact too and I got the sense that stretch already had most of everything digitized - I got a couple email requests looking for specific dates in 1997-8, which unfortunately I didn't have, but I thought he had everything else together already.

  10. This great. Thanks to all of the people contributing! Finally made me register for the forum, always was afraid it would be too time consuming, and i was right:)

I'm sorry I can't contribute, only shows I had were those that Stretch posted on KK.

Here's something Stretch & Bobbito related I recently stumbled on about the making of the Zoo York Mixtape Video

  19. @Verge: Pretty sure, the third song on the B-Side of the show with AK Skills Relm posted, is "Talk That Talk" by 7 Universal, group from Brownsville.

    ReplyDelete
  20. @Krisch- Nice! Thanks, man. I knew it had a 7 or an Allah or a Universal somewhere in the name. I should have figured that one out. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  21. ^oops, just saw someone else already cleared that up in the forum, should have refreshed the site..

    ReplyDelete
  22. what about the shows I listed above, are there still some missing or having dead links, i could upload them here or at stretchandbobbito.blogspot.com

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Krisch: I'll take a look tonight and let you know if we need any of those. I also have a bunch of rips from the web I haven't gone through yet to see if they're needed.
It's really highly appreciated that so many heads are trying to help out with this.
It's gonna be monumental at it's completion.
