Pete Rock & CL Smooth Reunited On Stage 11/09/09

WORD!! Sorry if you already saw this on other blogs already, but it had to be posted here for obvious reasons. Not much info out there about this and I have no idea if this implies any future endeavors between the duo. But we can only hope. Apparently they are touring Europe together right now. This show was in London at Relentless Garage, Highbury.

Also, if you didn't know, Mr.Chop recently dropped an album of Pete Rock beats that he covered with some extra instrumentalists, more in the psyche/funk/jazz vein, but dope. Philaflava featured the T.R.O.Y. cover on the latest Sounds Like The 90's compilation.
But here's the kicker: Sometime in the near future, a couple of those beats will be released on 45's and will have CL Smooth rhyming on them. I don't know if he's just going to rhyme the same verses again or what, though. Stay tuned.

Thanks to CDubb over at the T.R.O.Y. forum for pulling my coat to this. Pause.

  1. I was there...it was a dope show, without quite hitting the greatness I hoped for. It was just great to see them together, and they certainly seemed cool with each other, laughing and joking a lot. I can die happy now I've seen them do TROY live...

  2. I was there too (I put this vid together)... totally agree with you JVF, it was cool but not quite as good as I thought. But then T.R.O.Y. made up for it. Amazing.

Pete Rock & CL Smooth Live in London

So we went to see the legends that are Pete Rock & C.L. this week at The Garage, London. We’ve upped the best part of the night where Pete Rock called for 5 seconds of silence for Michael Jackson. Twice he asked, twice someone shouted ‘Paedophile’ prompting C.L. in his best English accent to call him a ‘wanker’ and a ‘fucking knob head’. It then gets better as C.L. announces he even loves Bubbles and would get in Michaels bed. A hilarious intro to a stone cold classic. Check www.spinemagazine.com for the full interview with them next Monday.

Fave Pete Rock & C.L. track in the comments section please, we’ll then up the top 5 with some un-released rarities for you.
