Roy's West Coast Underground Volume 1
What's up, TROY fans. I've been on hiatus for a couple months, but now I'm back in full effect. I got six volumes of my favorite early-to-mid 90s west coast underground tracks on tap, so check back regularly. You may have noticed that I have a severe east coast bias, but this is also reflected in the type of west coast hip hop that I enjoy. I'll be adhering to a strict time frame (1992-1996), with a focus on artists such as Aceyalone, Freestyle Fellowship, Ras Kass, The Pharcyde, Del, Casual, Pep Love, Souls Of Mischief, Blackalicious, Saafir, Homeliss Derilex, Mannish, Chali 2na, Charizma, The Dereliks, Ahmad, Motion Man, E-Rule, Lateef, The Atban Klann, Funkytown Pros, The Nonce, Madlib, Mystik Journeymen, Abstract Rude, etc.
Before you download these compilations, give this track a listen:

WTF? Nonce Mixtapes is a trendy bubble-gum played-out 12"-single. No props. Song sucked from day one, and if you thought otherwise, you are what we call a "sucker". Shit is fake like Supersonic and Dove Shack's shit. Nonce had some good shit, but that was not it. ANYBODY caught playing that song, as if it wasn't bubble-gum, is identified as a fake immediately.
ReplyDelete^LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words, y'all.
Feel free to post this wherever you want, skeme.

ReplyDeletelol @ anonymous..we all have opinions
RIP "YUSEF AFLOAT" (the nonce)
But really, when I first heard Mixtapes, I remember thinking "What a WACKASS chorus". And when people started jocking that track, I thought they were all newjacks. And they were. The chorus for Mixtapes is forever super-wack. And if you are putting this on a mix in 2009 as if it ever was dope (without editing/cutting out the chorus as if it was never there), you must be a newjack buster. Sorry-Roy, but you are nothing without the download-age of the internet. Just like the vast majority of the TROY community.
ReplyDeleteSettle down, AC. There's nothing wrong with the refrain. You're just an oddball.
ReplyDeletebwahahaaaaaa!!!!!!!!! WTF? AC? This compilation is dumb wack!
ReplyDeleteI can't keep track of all the brain-damaged hip hop enthusiasts on the internet. My bad for thinking you were AC.
