I swear, I'd do just about anything for the Wu to have this raw, hungry sound again. Don't even get me started on the most recent album, which is heads above the last few. But really, how can you call it a Wu-Tang album when it doesn't have any verses from GZA, Method Man, Masta Killa or even a spot from Cappadonna?
Anyways, I picked up this vinyl back in 1996, one of my first online purchases ever (from what used to be CD Europe.) Back then everything was straight text in a list form, so I had no idea what I'd receive. But the moment I put it on I knew there was something different about this track from my cd version. It took me several years to figure out that this is bootleg of a white label of the original vinyl that the Wu-Tang sold out of the trunk of their cars (so the story goes). That makes this track the demo version of "Tearz."

I always thought this track represented the nitty gritty sound of the Wu. Plus it by far my favourite Wu track.

rza also rerecorded tears for the lp so the original version (with the original Ha ha ha ha-ha-ha that was on Jeru's aint the devil happy....diff than the lp version)
sounded like it was recorded on a 4track or some shit.....it blew my mind...every person i know dubbed that shit off the wax....amazing

ReplyDeleteI don't know about any kind of program that was included in the .zip file. There should be 2 .jpg's, 1 .txt document and 3 .mp3 files. Can you be more specific as to what it is you're seeing?

it says "Wu-Tang_Clan-..." may contain an application. The safety of this file cannot be determind. Are you sure you want to DL "Wu-Tang_Clan-..."? just to let you know, this also happend with the Jazzmataz inst. you guys posted. thanks for the quick response.
ReplyDeleteThere's no "application" in the archive. Comes up clean on virus scan and there is just 3 .mp3 files, 1 .txt and 2 .jpg files inside. (as previously stated).

ReplyDeleteMaybe early spring 1993, Wu Tang had not jumped off yet.Me and like 6 of my boys were rollin' deep in an 86 Escort in Manhattan.This was around the time when on Friday nights, 8th ST and 4th Ave area was bumpin'.Everybody would roll through with their pimped out Corollas and the Lexuses and Diamantis were the shit.
Anyway,we pull over in front of Grey's Papaya on the 8th St side. We were knocking 'Slam', and this big burgundy Landcruiser pulls up beside us and someone in it prompts us to lower the music.Their truck was full.1st thoughts are,"Aww shit,beef." No, the cat in the passenger back seat says,"Yo,you like that rugged Onyx shit,huh?"I'm like,"Yea,word,shit's hard."
He throws me a tape and says,"You gonna love this shit,it's our shit, we bout to blow up.Wu Tang.Peace."
It was Old Dirty who talked and I'm pretty positive it was Meth in the front passenger side.
Man, we played that tape until it broke.We used to argue over who was gonna hold it for the night.It only had 'Protect Ya Neck' on it,clean and dirty.
Of course, months later, Wu blew the fuck up.
Sometimes I wish I didn't fuck up as a kid, because of the struggle now, but it was worth it for memories like that.
